Few
people in the music business possess the experience
and expertise of Beth Greenwood. She knows how to sing—within
a few minutes her audience knows that. She has understanding
and respect for composers and lyricists. Perhaps that
applies because the lady is a songwriter of words and
notes herself.
Beth
Greenwood releases Darkness and Light, performing to
packed houses at Don't Tell Mama, NYC in December of
2002.
The
album features a sampling of her original rock and blues
compositions in addition to rock, blues, gospel and
Broadway classics. She is joined on this album by highly
regarded musicians, including Dave Keyes(piano), Jeff
Golub(guitars), Lincoln Schleiffer(bass), Tony Thunder
Smith(drums), Kevin Hupp(drums), Cornelius Bumpus(sax)
and a horn section of John Sneider(trumpet), Dave Gibson(trombone)
and Lou Marini(sax) of the original Blues Brother Band.
There are special performances by Danny Lewis on organ,
Mall Kiil on piano and the late great Jim Gregory on
bass.
The
album was recorded, mixed and mastered by Will Schillinger
of Pilot Recording Studios, NYC. |
